Marcel Dupre (1886-1971) was a very famous organist in his day. In
the catalogue, "Duo-Art Aeolian Pipe Organ Music 1925," you can find
four rolls, played by Marcel Dupre himself:
3359 Zephyrs Improvisation on a Theme by Leo Stokowsky, $7.25
3362 Prelude in G-Minor, Opus 7, No. 3, $7.00
3363 Fugue in G-Minor, Opus 7, No. 3, $7.00
3365 Noël with variations, by Louis Claude Daquin, $7.00
The comment on No. 3363 reads: "Played for the Aeolian Company on the
DUO-ART Aeolian Pipe Organ by the composer. The artistic complement
of the foregoing Prelude, linked with it for performance, and with it
forming a complete, well-rounded impressive musical work of imagination
and power, this fine Fugue is masterly in conception and superb in
execution. But it is much more than a piece of technical mastery in
formal construction. For its theme is both interesting and beautiful,
and the whole structure, with its mounting pinnacles of sound,
impresses, captivates and delights the hearer".
