This weekend COAA (Carousel Organ Association of America) action moves
to Olcott Beach, New York. Over 80 individuals are registered and they
indicate they will be bringing about 45 organs and barrel pianos.
The big organ list we expect includes the one-of-a-kind instruments
Roger Wiegand's "Diamond Jubilee" 89-key Gavioli, Dave Wasson's "Trudy"
98-key Concert Organ, John Ravert's Paige & Howard 90-key Dutch Street
Organ "De Witte", Henk Noordermeer's NBC 64-key Dutch Street Organ,
Peter and Jill Hallock's 56 key Gebr. Bruder/165, Terry Haughwout's
Wilhelm Bruder 48 keyless, and Kim Pontius' 65-keyless Ruth Replica.
"Local products" built in North Tonawanda are expected to include
Wurlitzer 103, 105, 125, 146-A, 148 and Caliola models plus Pauline
Leonard's North Tonawanda #191, North Tonawanda #184, plus the
descendant organs like Mike Barnhart's Stinson/Barnhart 165 "Treveris,"
Jim Grayson's Johnson Organ Company 157, and Eddie Evarts' Stinson
78-key model 58-M.
Of course we will have a bunch of "factory built" small organs from
Perlee, OSI, Raffin, Alan Pell, Molinari, Hofbauer, Blüml, Stüber, and
Vienna Woods using scales ranging from 20-er to 31-er, as well as some
small homebuilt organs.
The "Annual COAA Western New York State Rally" always draws some
interesting if non-mainstream instruments from the Rochester area.
These are expected to include seven antique barrel operated instruments
owned by Jeff Vincent, and a number of little gems built by Bob Cole,
including his Molinari barrel organ replica.
The registration deadline has passed, but admission to the grounds is
free and open to everyone.
