I just came across this article:

The photo shows the Chickering building in New York City. It used
to be for retail sales and even had a concert hall: "Chickering Hall."
Notice the "Legion of Honour Cross" façade -- that was Chickering's
trade mark seen on the soundboard decal, and plate decal.
As an aside, when I was a kid going to school in Boston in the late
1960s, I remember tracking down what used to be the Chickering retail
store in Boston, a couple blocks down from M. Steinert & Sons (the
Steinway dealers, still at that location). The building had several
retail establishments -- I recall a "high-end" luggage store -- but in
the foyer in the entryway, in exquisite detail mosaic tile, was the
logo "the Ampico". Of course, the folks in the store had no idea what
that had to do with!
The old Chickering factory building in the south end still stands, and
has been re-purposed; there are a number of artisans and craftspeople,
and the main entry way has an homage to Chickering.
