My piano has been stored in my workshop and buried behind other
projects. Well, I finally cleaned out the workshop and today got
the Acoustigrande Welte grand piano out from behind everything.
The eight years being wrapped up hasn't been kind to the finish
(it needed refinishing before, but not as much!).
Saw a non-player Acoustigrande on eBay a while back that looked very
similar. One of the detail pictures there showed the serial number
stamped into the soundboard just under the bottom bass string. Well,
after finally getting my piano up on it's legs, I opened the lid and
yes! -- there is a number under the dust! So I now know it's a 1923
model.
I'm also now looking over the piano without the excitement of finding
and buying and, boy, do I have a _lot_ of piano rebuilding to do,
if this is going to be a good example of a Welte system!
