A circa 1919 Weber upright Duo-Art has arrived for restoration,
seemingly complete except for two of the celluloid control lever
labels. A look through the bone-yard does not turn up replacements
so I am appealing to those who may be able to assist in the hunt.
Photo #1 [links are below] shows the existing label in position #1 (far
left) serving the "Modify" function. Photo #2 shows where the label
for the Accompaniment gradation and Theme application functions would
go.
Photo #3 shows the existing label in position #4 (far right) serving
the Rewind/Silent/Play shift function. Curiously, the font on this
label appears to have a "drop-shadow" quality to it, whereas in photo
#1 the font appears to be a simple condensed block style. This suggests
that one of the two labels is not original to the piano.
Photo #4 shows positions #3 & 4. A clue may be the Tempo indicator
(photo #5) which appears to be the condensed block style, making the
drop-shadow label an inappropriate substitute.
The approaches, in order of most desired to least, are as follows:
1. Obtain three labels (positions #2, 3, and 4) with lettering that
matches label #1.
2. Obtain three labels (positions #1, 2, and 3) with lettering that
matches label #4 (drop-shadow).
3. Obtain two labels (positions #2 and 3, any combination of lettering
styles.
4. Obtain high-resolution scans of a complete matching set of labels,
either style but condensed block preferred.
