Standard March Tempo

I think you must first decide the type of "march" you want to discuss.
If you want to talk about moving troops from one destination to another,
that's one thing.  If we are going to talk about music "march tempo",
like Sousa marches, then we are talking about 120 beats per minute.

Having marched in drum and bugle corps most of my adult life, we never
used anything but that cadence for "marches", although bagpipe bands
usually dropped to around 90 beats per minute.
