Mystery Bruder Organ at Buckroe Beach Carousel
By Will Eley
These pictures are of the band organ at the Buckroe Beach Carousel
in Hampton, Virginia. It was built in 1914 and was purchased from
the Berni Organ Company by the Buckroe Beach Amusement Park around
1929. Sometime in the 1930s it was converted by B.A.B. to play
their 66-key rolls.
During its 1988 restoration, Dentzel was revealed to be written
prominently on the facade. There was speculation that the organ is
a Wilhelm Bruder Söhne model 79, but the large scale flutes on the
very front contradict that, unless they were added by B.A.B.
This is all I know so far, I would love to get some more insight
into the identity of this organ. Here are links to the pictures.
