Mira Repair Advice Needed
By Claudine Jones

A question has come up regarding a specific part of a disc box, in this
case an 18.5" Mira, which apparently has had some work done in the
interior to reinforce or amplify the sound. We are not sure what to
call this "soundpost," but it appears to function vertically as a way
to place tension between the bedplate and the soundboard below it, thus
causing the box to perform with more resonance.

Our hope is that someone knows what we're referring to and that we can
get some idea how to remake this. It is clearly not original and is at
present quite loose. We think it would be better to remake it entirely
than try to get the fake "soundpost" to work.
