Thanks, Mikey. But you missed a few: the back door, coin accumulator,
coin chute, coin slot and "Drop one to twenty nickels" cover plate are
missing.
A restored Seeburg G is for sale that was offered to me for $45,000.
To compare that with the instrument offered at auction, figure a buyers
premium of 25 percent, their mover's fees, and a restoration for $20,000+
into the equation.
I just finished attending a vintage guitar show this weekend and market
prices are half what they were two to three years ago. I don't know if
it's the economy or just that so few younger people are into collecting.
No matter what statistics tell you, I can tell you that overall the
sale of musical instruments are off, which is unfortunate for me as I
am in the musical instrument business.
Next weekend I will be working a show with Joan Jett. I wonder how
many of you know her name and hits? Sadly the younger crowd barely
knows much about the Beatles. A couple of weeks ago I worked for a
band named the Guess Who. I would have to guess most of the audience
was over 55. I have to admit I am over 55 and knew all their songs.
Sad but music is changing to more computer generated music. In the
latest AMICA bulletin there was an article about some of the younger
members. Welcome Mikey Mills and the three other young members. We
need more.
