Electric Motor Starting Current
By Jim Crank

[ Ref. 140420 MMDigest, Reproduco Piano-organ Power Consumption ]

This 25 amps is nothing to be concerned about. The 4/56 Aeolian
Kilgen organ in the Jackling residence in Woodside, California, had
two 10-horsepower blowers plus the suction turbine for the two roll
players. All three machines started at once, and the starting current
surge was 300 amperes at 220 volts single phase, and no, the lights in
Woodside didn't dim!
