Hello, My name is Jess and I'm fairly new to the world of mechanical
music. I have been interested ever since I was a kid about how
a carousel organ worked and have always enjoyed listening to them.
Over the years, I have developed a favorite, that being the Wurlitzer
165, although I have only heard the converted one at Knoebels live,
some recordings of the one that burned at Seabreeze Park and random
videos of several others.
I have been doing some research on the organ and it lead me to this
website. Doyle Lane's book, "Wurlitzer Band Organ Pipe Scales", for
the Wurlitzer 165 band organ, is the only thing I can find on how the
pipes were possibly made. I am interested in purchasing this book,
but it seems that it is not for sale anywhere. I don't yet know if
this organ is something I would attempt to build as it may be out of
my scope, but I sure would like to try!
Do you know where I can legally obtain a copy of the book or another
place to get the dimensions of the Wurlitzer 165 pipes?
Thanks,
Jess Graham
