FS: Piano Rolls in Springfield, Oregon
By Walt Wentz

After reading Lee Rothrock's description of the piano rolls he has
for sale in Springfield, Oregon (MMD 14.03.22), I called him up and
arranged a visit.

Lee's stash consists of more than 200 rolls, mostly QRS Red Box, but
with quite a few Aeolian and Ampico, plus some other, older labels.
The tunes represented are mostly popular numbers from the 'teens to
the 'seventies, and the condition of the rolls I examined ranged from
very good to near-mint. Although most are 88-note, there were a few
65-note rolls, and some large old 5-tune rolls.

I came away with some rolls by Fats Waller, James P. Johnson and other
vintage rags and jazz. At $2 a roll ($1 for a couple), I considered
them a real find.
