Dear Vincent and friends, This is terrible news! I had known Randy
for over 50 years. I am in total disbelief. Please let me know as
soon as the details of the memorial service have been finalized.
Though I won't be able to make it to the services myself, I will pass
the information on to others that may not be on your mailing list.
Randy was a unique person; he had an eloquent sense of humor that
will never find an equal. Not only did he educate, he performed,
as he offered his selections of music, specifically chosen by him,
for each and every rendition, of his presentations. His style and
personality will be lost with his passing, only those who worked with
him, knew him or attended his concerts will be fortunate enough to
recall the master works of music he offered to his audiences. The
humorous anecdotes he added during a presentation to make his points
will stay with those who were there to listen, and remember them.
He will be sorely missed by his friends and the audiences that
followed his one-of-a-kind performances.
Only his memory will remain for us, but future devotees of antique
automatic music will have his recorded performances to substitute
for the live performances we witnessed. It will be through these
recordings that our friend Randy will live on. He will continue to
pass the knowledge and humor he shared so graciously with us all to
these new collectors, restorers, and lovers of all forms of antique
automatic music.
Farewell Dear Friend, you are missed already.
