FS: New Aeolian 46-note Music Rolls
By Brian Thornton

Howdy MMDers, I am very pleased to announce that after March 15,
2014, I will have recut rolls and new arrangements of Aeolian 46-note
available for purchase. After a great deal of effort, we were able
to soup up Ed Schmidt's perforator and software which was limited to
31 notes. I already had the punch and die; it's the same used for
Musette rolls.

The list of rolls is rather small but there are a couple of collectors
who have offered to loan rolls for copying. I also have a few nice
Wilcox & White 44-note titles to transpose over. If there is enough
interest I plan to re-cut those as well.

I have to give a very special thanks to Martin Ellis, who many may
know as Jasper Sanfilippo's theater organist. He has provided moral
support and some great new arrangements with full understanding of the
organ itself. A few of Martin's arrangements in the works right now
are "Star Wars", "Harry Potter", Bach's "Toccata in D minor", and
"JC Super Star". His arrangement of "Amapola Tango", inspired by
Jasper's big Mortier organ, was the first roll I cut. You can hear
and see "Amapola", played on Martin's 1250 organ, at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwsbxbwPwL0

As many of you who have original rolls may know, some of those original
arrangements are on the drab side: "Stars and Stripes" is lackluster and
"Hot Time in the Old Town" is a dirge. Both Martin and I would like to
pep these up a little. I gave "Eine feste Burg" a little face lift and
Martin orchestrated and inserted the missing piccolo part into "Stars
and Stripes". Of course, the original versions will be available to
the purist.

I have been doing proofs on plain 30-pound kraft paper. The 30/35-pound
dry wax paper should be here in a few days and then we will go into
production. Again, titles, will be available after March 15th, if not
before. Pre-orders can be placed at any time. The 46-note catalog is
at http://www.popmusicrolls.com/catalog/aeolian46

I am still looking for the loan or purchase of good 44- and 46-note
rolls to re-cut. I am offering to pay the postage and either provide
a copy of the original roll or another selection, any format, from the
catalog. Due to the editing process, and to get them back to the
lender as quickly as possible, it is better to send four to six rolls
at a time.

Thank you for your attention,

Brian Thornton - Pipes of Pan Music Rolls
