Source of Twill Rubber Hose & Tubing
By Spencer Chase

It is surprising how many friendly people there are at NAPA auto
parts stores. I have often gotten access to the backroom full of
stuff that you can only pick by seeing. Today most car parts are
listed by application only, so it can be difficult to find something
generic although much of this stuff still exists.

People will moan about using something like a preformed hose on a
player piano, but there may certainly be places where a well-chosen
hose will actually be an improvement. When operated under vacuum
in a more benign environment than an engine compartment this stuff can
last forever, unlike the specialty player stuff that is often loose
fitting in just a few years. I have had high quality large diameter
twill hose loosen in a very short time.

NAPA also has fuel and vapor hose in large diameters in 1/8"
increments. This is not the wire-reinforced stuff that would be too
tough for player use. It is easy to stretch onto a fitting and can be
used without hose clamps. The only down side is the stamped logo band
along the entire length of the hose. In most cases you can position
the hose so the logo is not seen.

Best regards,
