FS: Rubber Tubing for Player Pianos & Orchestrions
By Don Teach
Recently I did not like the tubing that I was getting. It fit the
nipples great but it was too flimsy or the wall was too thick for
a two-row nipple tracker bar for a Coinola O-roll machine. I had
some tubing made with a slightly thicker wall that fits the tracker
bar better than the thin-wall tubing from suppliers. I also had some
3/32" and 7/32" tubing made.
Nothing beats a $770 freight bill and having 30,000 feet of tubing
taking up room. I have sold a couple of rolls of tubing to friends
for $25 a roll. The 7/32" is $30 a roll. It is not perfect but it's
better than the tubing I was getting.
Today I started looking for the fiber insert to go into the bottom of
Wurlitzer valves that the pouch is glued. Does anyone need these or
have a good source? The fiber company I use can punch them out for
me if I want to buy them by the thousands. I tried to buy just the
fiber tubing so I could part them in a lathe but that size is currently
not available.
