Many years ago, liquid silicone was marketed under a host of brand names
as a miracle substitute for everything from car polish to furniture
polish. I remember particularly "Scott's Liquid Gold". The down side
was that once this was applied, it became impossible to repaint or
refinish what it had gone on.
I attempted to refinish my first player piano only to see the sprayed-on
coat fish-eye in huge areas. I found out that my mother had decided,
without my knowledge, to rub the whole case with this garbage. This
may be the stuff that was painted on the pouches Tom DeLay saw.
