Excellent comparisons for the four points you mention, Ralph. I have
played the same rolls for listening analysis on both our 1923 6'6'
Chickering (Centennial model) and our 1928 6'6" Steinway OR. For me,
the piano "signature" plays a major part in how the sound is projected
in the room. Both pianos are in the same room, side by side under a
16-foot ceiling. My ear likes the Chickering a shade more than the
Steinway. Yet, our 5'7" 1922 J&C Fischer Ampico A has a delightful,
mellow sine-wave projection not to be discounted.
