Wurlitzer 180 Band Organs
By Dale F. Rowe

Dear Matt, I was present when Jim Wells' newly restored Wurlitzer
Style 180 band organ was shown to the members of the National
Carrousel Association, in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. The organ
has two Style 180 roll frames, one playing a '180 roll, while the
other was chucked up and playing a Style 165 roll.

Both roll frames are of identical width, with the left roll frame
playing the '180 roll and the right roll frame playing the '165 roll.
The only changes to the right roll frame would be the tubing of the
tracker bar and the take-up spool (the width of the core was cut
down to accommodate the narrower '165 roll).

As my memory serves me, I recall that Art Reblitz was there and had
put a newly cut '180 roll on the left roll frame, but as it advanced
towards the playing notes, the roll quickly went into rewind mode
(an errant perforation). A call went out for a piece of Scotch mending
tape to remedy the situation. Hope this helps,

Sincerely,
Dale F. Rowe
