I have decided to sell my Universal Nickelodeon. This Universal
Nickelodeon was extensively rebuilt recently by Josh Rapier.
Here is his comment concerning this nickelodeon:
"Hi Tom. The Universal Nickelodeon that you own was modified to be
more expressive than the way they came built out of the factory.
It has three vacuum levels that are controlled by the O-roll:
normal, loud and crash, along with hammer rail on and off for the
piano. The original perflex pouches were all replaced with leather
and will not have the problem of the original perflex pouches
failing."
This instrument plays perfectly and is a joy to listen to. No
restoration needed! It has a 25-cent coin box, which is disconnected.
It has; bass drum, snare drum, tambourine, cymbal, wood block,
xylophone, and, of course, a full piano key board. The piano was
recently tuned by Bob Stout. The big attribute of this nickelodeon is
that there are 182 five-tune rolls that go with it, with no duplicates!
Universal Nickelodeons played 1/2 O-rolls, most of which were five tune
type.
All rolls are in new or appropriate-sized boxes with correct labels on
each end of the box, with a spare label in the box. All labels on the
boxes are color coded and duplicated in a large three-ring binder.
Thus when looking through the three-ring binder and you have found the
roll you want to play, just look on the shelf for the appropriate color
to find the roll you have selected. All these labels were produced by
the John Miller label-making program on a color printer. When
purchasing the nickelodeon, you will receive the bookcases in which the
rolls are stored. No need to reorganize these rolls. This nickelodeon
is at ground level, and a truck can be backed right up to the overhead
door.
Photos of the Universal nickelodeon and the rolls can be supplied to
interested parties. Asking price for everything: $12,000, FOB
Sturgeon, Missouri.
Best regards to all, and I hope you have had a sumptuous Thanksgiving.
