Universal Piano Co. Nickelodeon circa 1980
By David Evans

Hi, David McQuaide (in 130418 MMDigest) mentions wanting to sell
a Universal Piano Co. nickelodeon of circa 1980. We have just been
offered one of these, not working of course. Am I right in assuming
that they have poor pouches, possibly of Perflex? Is it usual to
replace them with tan pouch leather, or if not, with what? Does
anyone any advice about these things?

I also read, I think, that the rolls were specially arranged and made
by Play-Rite; is that right? Are extra rolls available these days?

Any advice gratefully received, if only "Don't touch it!" Thanks.

[ The instrument plays Style "O" music rolls mounted on "medium"
[ Ampico spools (instead of a 3" i.d. cardboard core). Check
[ availability with Play-Rite Music Rolls in Turlock, Calif.,
