Greetings All, Regarding Dave Dewey's question about red tubing
in a Welte Licensee, I must opine that I've never seen it in Licensee
or Gittens produced Weltes. The only tubing I've seen has been brass
(in the T100 early machines), rubber and lead. I suspect that the
tubing will likely be some variety of 1960s neoprene (the gooey,
slimy kind) or it could be surgical rubber tubing.
Just use thin walled 9/64" player tubing and make sure that it
doesn't kink when you're putting the drawer back together. I had
a bad experience once tracking down a recalcitrant note and finding
a kinked rubber tube in the middle of the brass transfer block that
is above the stack.
Regarding the belly cloth: Dave, just get a couple of sheets of Kraft
paper taped together and enlist the help of a friend to hold it against
the bottom of the piano while you mark the snap locations on the paper
with a regular 'Marks-a-Lot" pen. It's a hassle but well worth doing,
especially when you line the cloth with felt of half-inch thickness
or better.
Cheers,
John McClelland
