The MBSI has seen fit to replace its long-time, experienced, and
talented Editor, Rosanna Harris. The new MBSI Editor, a newcomer
to mechanical music, Russell Kasselman (Iron Dog Media), will assume
the position after the appearance of the next issue of the society's
journal, "Mechanical Music."
Now comes in the current issue of the AMICA Bulletin, just out, Editor
Terry Smythe's announcement that age is slowing him down and forcing
him to relinquish his Editor position as soon as a suitable replacement
can be found.
I hope Jody Kravitz is still in the prime of his life and is not being
worn down by the demands of getting a daily MMD Digest out to all us
subscribers.

[ This news makes me think about a nubmer of items. I am very much
[ hoping that both MBSI and AMICA are able to keep their journals
[ going. Both organizations and their journals are important assets
[ to our hobbie. For those that aren't able to attend the conventions
[ of these two organizations regularly, the journals are the principal
[ products of the organizations that that the members see. I fear that
[ if the quality of either journal suffers, membership renewals may
[ suffer too. I wish both organizations well.
[
[ With regards to Matthew's kind words about the MMD, I certainly have
[ no intention of slowing down my activities with the MMD. In fact, with
[ Robbie and Matthew doing most of the editing and research, I have
[ been able to work on new website features such as the newly announced
[ "file upload" capability. Robbie and Matthew help immensely and
[ neither have indicated they want or plan to cut back, though both
[ are older than I am.
[
[ In the long term I am concerned about what can be done to insure that
[ MMD doesn't disappear when age or health makes it impossible for
[ me do it any more. I am open to suggestions on sustainability of
[ the MMD. Please let me know if you have any suggestions in this
[ area. Thank you! --Jody
