Jaquet-Droz Automata
By Dale F. Rowe

Dear Lester, Greetings from the Bronx. In regards to the Jaquet-Droz
writer automaton, there are two other pieces by him in the same museum.
The second automaton is an artist, who can draw several different
pictures. The third is a female automaton that plays an actual
keyboard instrument. As she plays, you can see her chest move as
though she is actually breathing.

I was fortunate to see these in person while I was visiting my cousins
in Ste. Croix. I had been permitted to tag along with the MBSI tour
group that was visiting collections and museums across Europe in the
summer of 1976.

The collection of automatons are in a museum in Neuchatel, and are
only demonstrated upon special request.

Hope this was of interest,
Sincerely,
D.F. Rowe
