Gary Watkins asked whether this program would run under Windows 8.
I am running Piano Roll Label Maker version 7.92 and it runs perfectly
on Windows 8.
For those with any issues, a right-click on the .exe installation file,
choosing "troubleshoot compatibility" and following the wizard will
allow Windows to add drivers for Windows 7 or Windows 8 to allow it to
work with earlier editions of Windows for which it was originally
written.
This quirky, eccentric, but absolutely delightful program was produced
by John Miller of PianoRollStuff.com about 13 years ago. Since then,
he has periodically updated it, added new templates, and generally
improved the program. I use it as a base to make labels for piano
rolls, coin piano rolls and band organ rolls, and they are about as
true to the original as anything could be.
Unfortunately, John's web site has been off-line for several years and
there appears to be no way to purchase this program, other than from
his surrogate who occasionally makes copies available on eBay.
Other than data base programs and MIDI software, this has to be the
most useful program I use in mechanical music. I hope John will make
it available again.
