Source of Twill Rubber Hose & Tubing
By Spencer Chase

The fuel hose I referred to, which John Tuttle objected to, is probably
not what he is thinking of. I am also not sure if it is still available
since I can not find it in NAPA's web site. It was available for many
years at my local NAPA where they specialize in parts and supplies for
large trucks. A lot of NAPA stores that cater to passenger car owners
probably never stocked it. I will have to check the local NAPA to see
if it is still available.

The hose I recommended was for fuel filler and overflow lines and had
a very low pressure rating. It was not even suitable for the relatively
low pressure of cooling systems. It was very supple and easy to fit to
fittings, even if they were a little too large, and would not break them,
other than possibly if it was stuck on a rotted lead fitting that would
crumble if you touched it.

The fuel hose was of extremely good quality and would probably outlast
any hose made today for the player piano business. It was very
expensive, even more than the player piano hose when I last bought it.
Since it came in 1/8" increments and was very soft, it could be
stretched to fit without hose clamps.

Twill [covered] tubing and hose is made for the auto industry and is
very good stuff, probably better than the original player stuff. It
is actually one of the few rubber products made today that is any good.
Large hose is sold by NAPA Auto Parts and others as fuel filler hose
for big trucks. It comes in 1/8" diameter increments.
