Félix Mayol (November 18, 1872 - November 1, 1941) was a French
singer and entertainer. Born in Toulon, France, both of his parents
were amateur singers or actors, who arranged for Felix to make his
first stage appearance at six years of age. In 1895 he went to Paris
and the Montparnasse Quarter where he began a career in entertainment
that spanned more than forty years.
The music of "La matchiche" is attributed to Charles Borel-Clerc who
composed a lot of successes in this period. He arranged it from an
original song by P. Badia. The words are by Paul Briollet and Léo
Lelièvre. Listen also to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CwZMBszrB8
