La SeriNET 87 Mechanical Music Videos on the Web
By Jean Nimal
Dear friends from all over the world -- The magazine No. 87 of
"Musiques Mécaniques Vivantes" has just been published. We are glad
to offer you La SeriNET No 87 with its videos from the Web. This time
we have chosen to point out four areas concerning mechanical music :
- Restoration with tips and tricks from tutorial videos, such as
"Bevel-cutting of a wooden pipe and how to sharpen the chisel" or
"French polishing".
- A few MIDI-fied wind instruments such as a saxophone, a trumpet and
an amazing clarinet, whose development must have been quite a
difficult challenge. Here it is:

- A few organ clocks as this wonderful unknown (please help!)
cylinder one with helical reading:

- Videos to discover and make you feel like visiting three museums
about mechanical music or automatons in York (UK), Zagreb (Croatia)
and Valley Forge (USA). Don't miss the York museum, which is a good
quality video, cleverly and playfully made!
All those videos are easily reachable on the web site of the French
association A.A.I.M.M. (Association des Amis des Instruments et de
la Musique Mécanique), http://www.aaimm.org/ or even in direct access,
in English at http://www.aaimm.org/spip/spip.php?article899
Have a good time!
Best wishes from France,
Jean Nimal
