I am hopeful, long term, to find an Ampico B drawer for my late
1928 Ampico A. Meanwhile, can someone give me the proper advice in
replacing the rotting lead tubing?
I have used the stop-gap method which many of us have probably resorted
to: cutting lead tube near tracker back and squeezing rubber onto it.
It can cause more tubes to go bad in trying to do such a patch job;
it also has to deal then with the thicker conglomeration of accumulated
tubing, as well as the bends of 90 degrees at the back of the drawer.
Is there anyone who has successfully removed the lead off the tracker
bar (what _is_ that stuff?) and replaced with either new lead or say,
brass or copper tubing?
I would appreciate hearing from those who have shared my frustration
and came up with modern material way to make a permanent, safe and
professional fix.
