Original Prices of Knabe Ampico Pianos
By Ray Fairfield

Bryan Cather made some interesting observations about the cost
of a reproducing piano in the 1920s, and compares it with prices
of cars today.

I'll make the comparison with the price of cars back then. The
2500 bucks for the Knabe Ampico or my 1925 Weber Duo-art would
have purchased a Packard motorcar or about eight Model T Fords.
Reproducers were toys for the rich!
