A famous flying machine is mentioned in one of my favorite rolls,
Ampico #208941-E, "Lucky Lindy, a Fox trot in G major". It's played
by Vincent Lopez (assisted). According to the label, you can sing or
dance to the roll.
I have the original 1927 sheet music, words by L. Wolfe Gilbert and
Music by Abel Baer. I display these with a 78 rpm Edison record
#52029-L with tenor Vernon Dalhart singing, "Plucky Lindy rides all
alone, In a little plane all his own." I would be interested in
learning the meaning of "assisted."

[ When the artist is "Vincent Lopez (assisted)" it means that
[ the music was arranged by his band arranger, Domenico Savino,
[ especially for Ampico and recorded by Ampico staff musicians
[ Adam Carroll and/or Edgar Fairchild. Ref. "The Ampico Reproducing
[ Piano", ed. by Richard J. Howe, publ. by MBSI (1987), page 10 & 12.
