This weekend, July 13-14, 2013, COAA (the Carousel Organ Association of
America) will hold a rally in LeRoy, New York, a suburb of Rochester.
It will be held in conjunction with the Oatka Festival, a local
homecoming.
Larger organs registered for the event include a Wurlitzer 146 Special,
a large Dutch street organ, a Wilhelm Bruder playing 150 rolls, a North
Tonawanda Style 191 Military Band Organ, a Stinson M58, a Stinson
2000MA, the 90-key Page & Howard English Street Organ, John Prtljaga's
75-key homebuilt organ, and Dave Wasson's "Trudy".
Smaller organs include several John Smith homebuilts, three owner
assembled kit organs, some original designs, and a handful of antiques.
We will try something new on Sunday morning. There will be a short,
informal "Fixin' & Tunin'" workshop at the host motel at which we will
talk about small, hand-cranked organs. In the past this sort of thing
has gone on "after hours" in the hospitality suite, but as a newish
501-C3 Educational Corporation, it seems like a good idea to make our
exchanges a bit more prominent.
