Dear All, I am currently restoring a 48-note barrel piano, the type
that is powered by a spring-motor and was usually installed in places
of public entertainment, being operated by the insertion of a penny
coin.
This particular piano was manufactured by the firm of Rose, Coop &
Rissone Ltd., of London between about the years 1900--1905.
Collectors and knowledgeable enthusiasts often refer to pianos made by
this company just as "Rissone instruments", which were produced both
as automatic coin-operated pianos, also as hand-turned versions for
street use.
The piano has a decorative decal on the front barrel cover which
has unfortunately suffered from past damage, and needs to be replaced.
I am therefore trying to locate another instrument that has a near
enough complete and undamaged decal, that I may hopefully be able to
photograph with the owner's permission, so I may then be able to order
a newly-made decal from a specialist supplier who is able to make up
one-off piano decals, as long as he has a photograph to work from.
If anyone is able to help, or to point me in the right direction to
anyone who owns a Rissone piano that would be willing to help, I would
be most grateful. A photograph of what remains of the decal on my
piano is available.
