Hi all, At some point in my combing through the MMD Archives I recall
more than one article commenting on and expressing interest in the fact
that pianists in the early part of the 20th century were free in their
interpretation or modification of the musical score.
I also enjoy the differences in how various pianists perform the same
piece of music. I have been collecting recordings for Welte, Ampico,
Artrio, and Duo-Art since about 1968 but I admit that most of my
collection is of the first two systems listed.
The main reason for this post is to inform anyone interested that the
first appendix, seven pages long and written by Dr. Werner König, of
"The Marvelous World of Music Machines" by Heinrich Weiss-Stauffacher
with collaboration of Rudolf Bruhin, Kodansha International LTD, first
edition 1976, LLC 75-13109, ISBN 0-87011-258-9, JBC 1072-785044-2361,
is on this topic and may be of interest to some of you.
