A sincere thanks for the help and responses to my prior post [130223
MMDigest]. Tom Chase sent some very good info on how to calculate
the parameters needed, and I learned quite a bit (the diametral pitch
is 16!). Several others also chimed in with some further info to help
identify it, and various suggestions.
I have purchased Carl Denunzio's PPCo electric roll frame to use for
now. It seemed to be the best and quickest solution to get it going.
After seeing several "reviews" on it, I may just stay with it -- it
seems that it treats rolls very gently and is quite reliable. I got
about a dozen old but very playable rolls with the piano, so that is an
issue. Carl was very friendly and concerned that it arrived safely and
that I was satisfied with it. I certainly am!
I still have the option to pursue the gears later and return to the
original roll frame if desired. I doubt that I will, but it's nice to
have the option -- we all like originality!
So, thanks, everyone!
