"In The Strand" a Parody of "Dixie's Land"
By Mark Singleton

A couple of years ago I took an eBay gamble on a keywound 6-air
Nicole musical box, which turned out expensive as it needed a re-pin
and re-dampering, but the comb was wonderfully resonant and in perfect
condition. A small fortune later the restored box sings it's little
heart out, including a splendid arrangement of "Dixie's Land", or is
it "In the Strand"? I don't know, the tune sheet was missing, but it
certainly has an American flair. Does anyone know if Nicole did tune
programmes for the American market?

If any reader is interested, the box is available; I prefer light opera.
