Beijing "Forbidden City" Clock Collection
By Moe Goldy

About five years ago we went to Beijing as part of a watch and clock
tour group. We visited the Forbidden City clock collection. At that
time, there was a very large collection of exquisite, complicated
clocks; many appeared to have automated motions. Unfortunately, there
were no demonstrations, but videos and a book with color photos of part
of the collection were available in the book shop.

The highlight of the visit arranged by our tour director was a visit
their restoration shop. We were able to see many clocks in the process
of restoration, some clocks were run for us and we were able take
photos and videos.
