Laurence Fisher Leaving Bonhams
By Laurence Fisher
The glorious world of mechanical music has taken me from Phillips to
Great Grooms, Christies and Bonhams. But now I will be departing from
the auction world to pursue other ventures elsewhere.
I have been enormously blessed with meeting and making of friends of
the great minds on this subject -- from those still writing endlessly
new material based on foundation papers written by them years before,
to those very sadly no longer with us. Trips have taken me all over
the world and to one consignment from a lady who telephoned me from
around the corner to my house. I shall be taking with me a great many
memories and smiles.
Thank you to all who have supported me and helped me with technical
rudiments; I hope to bump into familiar faces at a future date.
The last sale I have catalogued is currently awaiting its offering:
The Collectors sale at Oxford on the 12th February (lots 1-93).
I won't be there to see it, but please make my replacement very
welcome as you did me when I started.
My very kind regards and best of luck with all your mechanical music
projects to come.
Bye-Bye!
