FS: Steinway Duo-Art in San Diego, Calif.
By Diane deTar
Hi all, I have a customer with a 1924 Steinway M Duo-Art for sale.
The piano has a broken agraffe (that I'm fixing today) but it has
been restrung and the hammers have been replaced. It has plastic
keys and the plate looks like it was reguilded with ordinary gold
spray paint. The player action was rebuilt about 40-50 years ago.
The case is refinished walnut and the finish is quite nice.
I would actually say that the piano needs everything redone again.
I may be surprised after tuning it, but the work looks very amateurish.
The nose bolts on the plate have rust around them, and usually when
you rebuilt a Steinway action you also do shanks and flanges.
The customer is taking bids on the piano as it is an estate sale.
Please contact me via email if you are interested.
