Tuning Scale of a B.A.B. 44-note Street Piano
By Lawrence McGowan
Hello! I'm requesting any information on a B.A.B. street piano,
a "hurdy gurdy." It plays eight songs on a barrel-pinned cylinder.
It is very out of tune and I am asking if there is any information
in regards to the scale used.
There are 44 playing action hammers. The bass and accompaniment
hammers have felt tips, and the melody section uses metal clips to
give the honky-tonk "old piano" nostalgic style of sound. It seems
to work fine but it does need some tender loving care to restore.
I just really need to find what notes are used in the sound board.
This could be a really fine instrument of yesteryear and I am willing
to take on the project if I can find out what is the tuning of the
piano. Any information would be greatly appreciated in this matter.
Thank you!
