Many years ago, I found a partial cylinder musical movement with bells
(no whistles!) and some parts are missing, like the governor. I have
a few moments this week, and am starting to clean it. As recommended,
I use only white vinegar and salt. It works great!
The cylinder is 13", the comb is missing only one tooth. The spring
does not seem to be broken but the Geneva stop needs repair.
In Bulleid's book, "Cylinder Musical Box Technology," I found on page
55 that the serial number 190015 belongs to Nicole Frères and was
made around 1839. How can I confirm this, and what is the interest
for my movement if it is incomplete?
Thanks,
Robert Patoine
