Hello Troy, My 1927, late model, Reproduco has the vacuum device
you describe on its standard 88-note type [spool box] tracker bar.
There's no problem with the installed small clamps and the doors close
properly. The slotted vacuum tube appears to be original and does not
interfere with tracker bar vacuum at high altitude.
I'm pleased to have it vacuum the 70 NOS/OS recut rolls purchased from
Ray Siou years ago, and would like to see that device on my other five
pianos. I suggest you attempt to find a clamp or other hold-down
device that will clear the doors.
