Replacing Player Piano Casters
By Bruce Miller

When I used to live back on the East Coast, I went through a
stage where I was buying and selling a fair number of player pianos.
I quickly learned that almost all of the original wheels were rusted,
worn flat, or broken. I made it a habit to put new wheels on every one
before it was ever moved into my building.

I always moved them on a trailer. I would pull the piano to the back
of the trailer, until the wheels just dropped off the edge of the
trailer bed. Then it was a simple task to remove the old wheels and
put on the new ones. When that was completed, I would then pull the
piano out further until that end (with the new wheels) just touched the
ground.

At that point, the wheels on the other end were high enough above the
trailer bed to remove and replace them. Then, the piano was lowered
the rest of the way to the driveway and rolled into the building.
