It seems to have escaped notice of the MMD that Ron Perry, owner of
MIDIator Systems, died May 28, 2012. I found out about it only from
reading his obituary, written by Mike Ames, that appeared in the
current issue (v. 58, no. 5, Sept.-Oct. 2012) of the MBSI journal,
"Mechanical Music."
Ronald David Perry was born December 26, 1944, and lived in San
Diego, California, enjoying a 33-year career at the Naval Electronics
Laboratory, Point Loma, California. He is survived by his wife, Cathy,
and two daughters. Cathy suffered a bout of spinal meningitis in July
1998, which is reported in the MMD Archives.
After the death of inventor Laurent Coray, who developed the Octet
system of MIDI control for mechanical musical instruments (for which
see the MMD Archives), Ron took over the development and support for
Laurent's system, continuing it as MIDIator Systems.
