Regarding musical museums in the States, the Deansboro Mechanical Music
Museum was a very unique place where people could interact with the
machines -- they could actually play some of them themselves! I'm
not sure about there being quite the same venue elsewhere, but in the
Musical Box Society Directory (the new one which just came out) there
are no fewer than _forty-five_ mechanical music museums of one sort or
another all over the country!
Anyone can go to http://www.mbsi.org/museums.php and find a world-wide
listing of the existing museums. The way it was set up, the different
parts of the U.S.A. (Eastern, MidAmerica, Western, etc.) are not listed
under United States, but are scattered alphabetically throughout the
listing. I'll mention that to the powers that take care of the web
site and see if the USA museums can be changed to be all under "United
States", with sub-headings.
Happy traveling!
