Tune Your Piano Before Presenting It On YouTube
By David Haibach

Reading the previous and continued comments on this subject has finally
enticed me to also include my comments. I am appreciative of all
attempts to bring mechanical music to the people, and while it does
pain me sometimes to hear a really out-of-tune instrument, I have not
gotten to the place where I am judge and jury over anyone's attempt
to make their own video with their own instrument.

The very spirit that "does not bear up with those who try", is the
very same spirit that demands perfection the critics seldom are capable
of delivering themselves. J. Lawrence Cook has often been much maligned
in some circles as an artist and the reason is not so much his talent
(it is my opinion the man was incredibly talented) but because the
success or failure of QRS during the lean times was placed on his
shoulders in producing music that would sell to people that may not
have cared about artistic talent as much as they just enjoyed what they
heard. We purists never seem to understand business anyway.

I, for one, am grateful for any and all who post videos, even if their
ears are not quite up to the critics here. While my piano has garnered
many good comments on sound, I do not think that people should avoid
posting videos that are not up to my specs. If I find something that
I can not listen to, then I simply will not make an issue of it. The
YouTube hit count will be the judge of my pleasure or displeasure.

Respectful regards,

Dave Haibach
