So, I'm taking apart a Duo-Art rotary pump from a completely external
suction cabinet (stop me if you've heard this one)... The board on the
side without the flywheel came off easily enough to expose the bellows,
but now I have removed each of three screws in each of three bellows ends
that chase each other around the square, _and_ I have detached the rotary
arms from where they pump the bellows (three nuts each), _and_ I have
removed eight additional total screws, two from each corner holding the
metal plate under the flywheel onto the bellows. This thing is still
not coming apart!
I can faintly see what looks like a screw head on the metal plate behind
the flywheel, but these are heavily painted in and there is no chance
of getting a screwdriver blade in them without grinding out the paint.
Have I missed something here? Or is it possible that I am the first
person to disassemble this pump? Is it time to scrape black paint out
of screws? The piano itself is serial numbered to 1917, but the external
pump cabinet has a lighter stain, so I'm not sure if it is original to
the piano or not. Thanks for your experience!
