I am looking for parts for a cabinet-style Nelson-Wiggen orchestrion
(with a horizontal xylophone on top). It is in a tourist attraction,
"played to death", and the pump is missing; it's currently running
on a noisy blow-gun/vacuum unit lying in the bottom. It also has
a replacement A-roll spool frame, and basically is "a mess": so
originality is not as big an issue here as "fun".
I told the owner I'd approach the thing two ways: (1) Try to find
what's right to make it all original, and (2) try to find a very quiet
suction box (suggestions welcomed) and a lot of other stuff to cram
into it, such as an O-roll frame and additional instruments.
He is also looking for another machine, restored or not. "Museum
condition" (especially on the case) is not important, as it will be
within reach of the general public.
