Can someone out there please help me find a replacement part for
a Wurlitzer roll changer? I am working on a Wurlitzer AX, the only
one over here, which has recently been purchased by my customer.
The roll changer has suffered from a broken part. This is part 34X
in the Wurlitzer roll changer booklet -- the bell crank that operates
the dog clutch on the left hand end of the take-up spool.
Due to an underlying problem, this bell crank has been slightly
misaligned for some time, resulting in the breakage of one of the
two forks that take the screws that engage with the clutch. This was
already the case when my customer bought the machine. What has now
happened is that the entire bell crank has fractured right across the
main pivot hole, at its weakest point where the maximum bending moment
occurs during operation.
The underlying problem of the misaligned pivot shaft can be easily
rectified but I need a new bell crank. I know this is a ling shot, but
has anyone got an old roll changer for spares, or has anyone previously
had such a part duplicated and has a spare?
I am also exploring the best way of duplicating the part by fabrication
but before I go down this route I thought it worth asking the MMD
readership if they could help.
With many thanks,
Nicholas Simons, GB
