MBSGB Annual Meeting & Auction Saturday 9th June
By Nicholas Simons
I would like to make a small correction to Kevin McElhone's posting
of yesterday. The MBSGB AGM and Auction is on Saturday 9th June,
venue as stated.
The Musical Box Society of Great Britain (MBSGB) recently celebrated
its 50th anniversary with a special five-day meeting at which we were
pleased to welcome a large number of our American members and friends.
The MBSGB and MBSI enjoy a very close relationship. We have two more
special events later this year where we will continue to celebrate our
anniversary and meet to enjoy our shared interest in all forms of
automatic music.
In spite of our name we cover all forms of interest in mechanical or
automatic musical instruments, and have members who collect anything
from the smallest 'snuff box' tabatiere right up to the largest
fairground or dance organ. Our quarterly journal includes diverse
articles giving something for everyone, no matter what their interest.
We publish books, including Kevin's recent tome on the Disc Musical
Box, and continue to carry out world leading research into the
cylinder musical box. We hold three national meetings and numerous
regional meetings each year.
We welcome anyone with an interest in mechanical music to come to
one of our meetings to 'try us out' before joining. Please see our
web site or e-mail me personally.
Best regards,
Nicholas Simons - Correspondence Secretary, MBSGB
